Refugees United attended the Global Humanitarian Forum

Refugees United’s founders, Christopher and David Mikkelsen, attended the Global Humanitarian Forum, chaired by Kofi Annan, which took place on June 23rd and 24th in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Global Humanitarian Forum is an international humanitarian arena with the objective of fostering dialogue and developing partnerships to strengthen the initiatives of the international community to address effectively the recent humanitarian challenges.

The forum was founded by the former UN secretary general, Kofi Annan, and receives the support of the Government of Switzerland to gather, once a year, the main humanitarian player in the global scenario and discuss ideas on humanitarian assistance and intervention”, as well as share experiences in dealing with mega-disasters, from Katrina to tsumanis.

This year the forum was attended by José María Figueres Olsen, CEO of Concordia21 and former president of Costa Rica, Irene Khan, secretary general of Amnesty International, Lesley-Anne Knight, CEO of Caritas Internationalis, Barbara Stocking, Chief Executive of Oxfam GB and George Rupp, CEO and president of the International Rescue Committee, among others.
